Today I want to dig deeper from a new perspective. My previous articles mainly covered preventive checks you can do before and during purchasing membranes. Now let’s suppose you have already received a batch of RO membranes, no matter big or small quantity. What supporting documents should you get to prove your membranes are genuine?
In China, customers will normally receive three documents plus one form for every batch of Dow membranes delivered.
The first one is COO, short for Certificate Of Origin. This document shows where the goods originally produced, which means the country‑of‑origin. This batch of 4‑inch membranes comes from Thailand.
The second one is COC, short for Certificate Of Conformance. It proves all membranes were registered before leaving factory, and every single element carries its own unique serial code.
The third document is customs declaration form. Key information such as customs clearance date, membrane model and quantity will be shown on it.
The last part is our serial‑number record. We will write down all serial numbers of the membranes shipped to you. So we can trace later whether these products were supplied by us.
Generally speaking, with these three certificates and serial‑number registration, you can mostly confirm the membranes are authentic. However, tricky scammers know well about these standard papers. Is it possible for them to cheat buyers by matching second‑hand membranes or domestic‑made elements with a full set of Dow official documents?
The answer is yes, totally possible. Once you fall into this trap, solving the problem will be quite troublesome. You may need to go back and check my former two posts for further solutions.
